Reeds, T/5 John N.

Former chairman of the chemical engineering department at California State University in Long Beach, Reeds served with the MFAA during World War II. He was graduated from the University of Iowa with his BA, MA and PhD in chemical engineering. He worked for the B.F. Goodrich Co. and the Continental Can Co. Inc. before beginning his career as a professor. Reeds taught as an assistant professor of engineering science for the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C., and was chairman and professor at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana from 1960 to 1965. He then was named chairman of the department at CSU in 1966. While living in California, Reeds also worked for the Flucor Corporation. A member of the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Reeds was also a professional musician. He played as an oboist in the University of Iowa Symphony, the Davenport Symphony, and the Terre Haute Symphony. Reeds died at the young age of 53 in Long Beach, California.
